About The Role

Based in our Internal Audit Service, you will work as part of a team benefiting from the guidance of senior colleagues as you undertake audits of both internal directorates and external contracts. Your remit will extend across a range of audit work from financial certifications and compliance work to fully risk-based audit reviews in key areas across the Council. The role will include reviewing internal control, risk management and governance arrangements that support delivery of services and you will assess our systems and controls, determining where the weaknesses are, and helping management teams agree on the actions that they need to take.

This is a fantastic position for someone who is keen to develop your career and is hungry to achieve more. As you progress, you will be encouraged to tackle more complex assignments that will require creative thinking and innovative approaches in delivering your audit work.

About You

To make the most of this exciting opportunity, you will be a flexible team player who can also work off your own initiative. You will have a commitment to high quality output, good time management skills and be able to plan your work to meet deadlines.

You will need to be AAT qualified or studying towards a CCAB/IIA qualification or alternatively, you might have a relevant qualification in a subject such as compliance, IT, risk, project management, procurement, or a financially related field. You will be keen to further your career with our exceptional development opportunities.

You will have some understanding or experience of working in an audit or finance related role, or you will have a relevant background in an internal control, risk or governance environment. With knowledge of modern approaches to audit, you will be inquisitive, have comprehensive IT skills and will understand the benefit of using data analysis for enhanced insight and problem solving.

You will be dealing with service professionals regularly and will need to bring excellent communication skills, both verbally and written to the role.
