The Anesthesiologist will collaborate closely with dentists, surgical teams, and clinical leadership to ensure safety, comfort, and an outstanding patient experience.
Essential Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Perform pre-anesthesia assessments, including medical history review, ASA classification, airway evaluation, and risk assessment.
- Develop and implement individualized anesthesia plans for pediatric, adult, and special-needs patients.
- Administer anesthesia (IV sedation, deep sedation, or general anesthesia depending on scope and credentialing).
- Continuously monitor patient vitals, depth of sedation, and airway status throughout the procedure using appropriate equipment and protocols.
- Manage anesthesia emergence and ensure safe, stable recovery.
- Provide post-operative evaluation, instructions, and documentation.
- Respond to medical emergencies following practice emergency protocols; lead management of airway or anesthesia-related incidents.
- Partner with dentists and surgical teams to coordinate case flow and patient safety.
- Communicate clearly with patients and families regarding anesthesia risks, instructions, and expectations.
- Work with clinical leadership to streamline sedation protocols and optimize patient experience.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely anesthesia records in accordance with state, federal, and Guardian Dentistry Partners standards.
- Ensure adherence to all regulatory guidelines, including OSHA, HIPAA, ADA sedation policies, and state dental board requirements.
- Participate in required training, mock emergency drills, and continuing education.
- Board certified or board eligible in Anesthesiology
- Valid DEA registration as required. Experience providing anesthesia in dental, ambulatory, or office-based settings. Previous experience with pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, or special-needs patient populations.
- Familiarity with office-based anesthesia best practice.
- Strong airway management and emergency response skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

- Competitive per-diem or daily rate based on experience and case types. Daily rate $3,500-$4,000.
- Scheduled for two days per month, with potential for additional days as practice volume requires.
