Position Summary
St. Francis Health Services is seeking a dependable and motivated Maintenance Assistant to support the upkeep, safety, and appearance of our care center. This role is responsible for performing general maintenance tasks, maintaining outdoor grounds, and ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

Facility & Grounds Maintenance

• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs as directed

• Maintain outdoor areas, including mowing, weeding, snow removal, and salting

• Assist with maintenance emergencies and urgent facility needs

• Inspect equipment and work areas to ensure proper operation and safety

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas and supplies

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all safety, infection control, and hazard communication policies

• Properly handle tools, equipment, and hazardous materials

• Report unsafe conditions, accidents, or equipment issues promptly

• Participate in safety trainings, drills, and emergency preparedness activities

Resident-Focused Support

• Respect resident privacy, dignity, and rights at all times

• Maintain confidentiality of all resident and company information

• Report concerns, complaints, or changes in resident condition to appropriate staff

Team & Organizational Support

• Collaborate with other departments to support facility operations

• Attend required meetings, trainings, and onboarding programs

• Follow company policies, procedures, and core values

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Previous maintenance or groundskeeping experience preferred

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• Positive attitude and ability to work in a healthcare environment

• Comfortable working with elderly and vulnerable populations

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull at least 30 pounds

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching

• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions

• Capability to perform repetitive tasks and handle physical demands of the job

Work Environment

• Fast-paced healthcare setting with frequent interruptions

• Exposure to varying conditions, including weather, chemicals, and equipment

• May require evenings, weekends, or on-call availability during emergencies
