The Housekeeper plays an important role in maintaining a clean, safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This position is responsible for performing daily housekeeping duties throughout the care center, including cleaning resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, hallways, floors, windows, furnishings, and equipment. Housekeepers ensure all areas meet infection control and sanitation standards by properly cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining assigned spaces while following established safety procedures. Additional responsibilities include managing housekeeping supplies, reporting maintenance concerns, properly handling waste, and ensuring equipment and work areas are clean and organized at all times.
Beyond cleaning responsibilities, the Housekeeper is a valued member of the care team and contributes to resident well-being by respecting privacy, protecting confidentiality, and promoting a positive living environment. The role requires strong attention to safety, infection prevention, and resident rights while working closely with nursing staff and other departments. Housekeepers are expected to report concerns regarding resident safety, environmental hazards, equipment issues, and changes they observe in residents' conditions. Weekend, holiday, and occasional extended-hour availability may be required. Experience working with older adults is preferred, but a caring attitude and strong work ethic are most important.
