Guardian Angel Homes is an award-winning assisted living community in Hermiston. The ideal candidate for this Activity Assistant position is cheerful, upbeat, outgoing and friendly with a passion for bringing joy and happiness to others. All required training will be provided on the job unless noted below.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
To help bring joy to our elderly residents through movement, engagement, and socialization, the Activity Assistant carries out the following duties with minimal oversight:
- Lead and assist senior adults in daily activities and life enrichment projects (puzzles, bingo, balloon toss, arts and crafts, etc).
- Encourage socialization among residents through proactive engagement.
- Provide individual engagement to residents who are unwilling/unable to participate in group activities.
- Assist with various elements of planning and execution of events.
- Help maintain supplies and equipment and keep storage areas well organized.
- Assist with transporting residents to appointments.
- May be asked to cross-train as a caregiver to assist in filling caregiver shifts on occasion.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
Qualified Activity Assistants applicants should possess the following:
- Must pass a drug screening and background check.
- Must be able to sit, walk, and move intermittently throughout the work shift without restrictions, safely lift up to 30 pounds occasionally, and physically assist residents in appropriate activities.
- Must be able to read and understand documents, such as usage and operating instructions and manuals.
- Must be able to recognize ability restrictions and limitations in others and help them participate in activities safely.
- Must be able to maintain confidences & trust with sensitive information.
- Must have a current driver’s license (standard Class D) and clean 3-year driving history.
Working Conditions:
This position will be performed mostly indoors in well-lit and ventilated rooms; will utilize outdoor areas under appropriate weather conditions.
