Job Overview
Isla Caribbean Cuisine is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head Server to lead our front-of-house team in delivering exceptional dining experiences. Duties
- Lead and supervise the serving team, setting the tone for outstanding customer service and professional conduct.
- Open and close the restaurant as scheduled for Lunch or Dinner service.
- Ensure the restaurant is ready to open by ensuring everything is clean, all tables are set up according to our dining standards and service is ready.
- Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely food preparation and smooth service flow.
- Oversee food handling, sanitation, and food safety protocols to maintain compliance with health regulations.
- Manage guest relations by addressing inquiries, resolving concerns promptly, and ensuring a memorable dining experience.
- Utilize POS system SpotOn to process orders, payments, and reservations efficiently.
- Upsell menu items and specials to maximize sales while enhancing guest satisfaction.
- Train and mentor team members on service standards, food presentation, and proper food handling procedures.
- Handle cash transactions, cashiering, and basic math calculations accurately.
- Assist with food preparation, bussing, and supporting kitchen staff during busy periods.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in all service and food prep areas.
- Support the recruitment, scheduling, and performance evaluations of front-of-house staff.
- Ensure compliance with food industry regulations and safety standards at all times.
- Foster a positive, energetic work environment that encourages teamwork and professional growth.
Skills
- Proven experience in food service, restaurant management, or hospitality roles, especially in fine dining or nightclub settings.
- Strong knowledge of the POS system Spot On.
- Excellent guest service and communication skills, with a focus on building guest loyalty.
- Demonstrated ability to upsell and increase sales through effective suggestive selling techniques.
- Culinary experience and food industry knowledge to support food handling, preparation, and presentation.
- Expertise in food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling procedures.
- Exceptional time management skills to prioritize tasks during high-volume service periods.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and train a diverse team of servers, bussers, and host/host staff.
- Basic math skills for cashiering, cash handling, and POS transactions.
- Experience with food preparation and supporting kitchen operations.
- Strong understanding of guest relations, hospitality standards, and customer service excellence.
