Salary: $26 - $31/hourGU Energy Labs is a family-owned market-leading global sports nutrition brand, and we are looking for a Quality Control Technician (Swing Shift)to join our team! Previous Food Industry experience required.This position is Monday-Friday, on-site at our Berkeley HQ. You must be available to work the regular hours of 10:00am - 6:30pm, with the ability to flex into other shifts as needed. Some overtime work and occasional weekend work may be required.About This RoleAs GU Energys Quality Control (QC) Technician, you will be responsible for overseeing the Quality Control checks during our scheduled production runs of Energy Gels. You will work alongside the Production Team to ensure that safety and GMP rules and regulations are being followed and perform regular inspections. You will help the QA team with in-process checks in the production, ensuring the quality of the finished products. Were looking for someone who has experience working in the Food/Supplement Industry along with a background in Quality, Chemistry, Food Science or Testing. The QC Tech must be detail oriented and organized being able to follow instructions and an eye for high quality standards is critical for this role.The ideal candidate also connects with GU Energy Labs core values of Athleticism, Accountability, Innovation, Collaboration, Longevity, and Love.You are excited about this opportunity because you will:Verify production checks real-time during the scheduled production runsConduct in-line process and ATP quality checks in the plant.Manage finished product retain samples and their logs.Support the QA Team with end-of-day sanitation operations and perform sanitation verification checks (document checks and ATPs) to ensure cleaning meets quality standards, as needed.Follow and enforce all established food safety and GMP rules and regulations and perform regular inspections.Works in positive collaboration with all levels of the organization as necessary to achieve organizational and project team objectives.Operate and maintain lab/production instruments (Scale verifications, pH meter, water activity meter calibrations, etc.), as needed.Identify and report non-conformance data or events to the QA management ASAP.Assist the QA Team in creating and implementing quality procedures.Other research or related activities as deemed necessary.Support the periodic Environmental Monitoring Program sampling and Pre-ops ATP swabbing in the respective production areas.Support other QA team functions as needed upon completing the associated on-floor staff training.We are excited about you because you have:High School Diploma or GED required, Associatesdegree or Bachelors degree in Food Science or related field preferredPrevious experience in Food/Supplement Industry or Quality Testing LaboratoryExperience with batch processing, industrial sanitation, mixers/mixing/blending, and various laboratory instruments in a food preparation environmentAn eye for detail, are organized, flexible, team-oriented, and can follow instructions and receive feedback.Understanding of GMPs and HACCP is preferredKnowledge of FDA CFR 110 and 111 is a plusPrior knowledge of Redzone software or other Quality management Systems is preferredPhysical Demands & Requirements:Ability to stand for long hoursAbility to repeatedly lift up to 50 lbs. throughout every shiftAbility to lift, bend, kneel, stoop, walk, reach, pinch and graspComfort working about chemicals, cleaning agents & laboratory equipment
