Job Title: Senior Database Engineer/Admin (Google Cloud SQL/ Postgres/Oracle)

Job Description:

• Provide hands-on support for Google Cloud SQL for PostgreSQL environments, including database configuration, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and operational support.
• Troubleshoot Oracle-to-PostgreSQL data replication and CDC/data streaming issues.
• Analyse and resolve data type conversion/mapping issues between Oracle and PostgreSQL, including differences in numeric, date/time, timestamp, character, JSON, and other data types.
• Investigate data synchronization issues, including replication lag, missing records, duplicate records, failed transactions, schema changes, and inconsistent data between source and target.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data stream/CDC pipelines to ensure reliable and consistent movement of data from Oracle to PostgreSQL.
• Work closely with application, data engineering, DBA, and reporting teams to identify the root cause of data discrepancies and reporting issues.
• Perform source-to-target data validation and reconciliation to identify and resolve data mismatches.
• Analyse replication logs, error messages, database logs, and pipeline metrics to identify recurring issues.
• Support schema changes and database releases while ensuring replication compatibility and minimal impact to downstream reporting.
• Optimize PostgreSQL database configuration and queries where performance issues contribute to reporting or synchronization problems.
• Develop and maintain troubleshooting procedures, monitoring dashboards, and operational documentation for the replication environment.
• Participate in root-cause analysis and implement permanent fixes for recurring replication and data synchronization issues.
• Provide technical guidance to the Bamboo Rose team on Oracle/PostgreSQL compatibility, replication architecture, and data integrity.

Required Technical Skills:

• Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, preferably Google Cloud SQL for PostgreSQL.
• Strong understanding of Oracle databases and Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration/replication.
• Experience with CDC (Change Data Capture), data streaming, and database replication technologies.
• Strong knowledge of Oracle and PostgreSQL data types and data type conversion/mapping.
• Experience troubleshooting replication lag, synchronization failures, data inconsistencies, and failed CDC events.
• Strong SQL skills across both Oracle and PostgreSQL.
• Experience with database performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Understanding transaction management, WAL, replication slots, logical replication, and PostgreSQL replication concepts.
• Experience with cloud database environments, preferably Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).
• Ability to analyse logs and troubleshoot issues across source database, replication/streaming layer, and target database.
• Experience with data validation and reconciliation between source and target systems.

Salary : $55 - $60
