What are the responsibilities and job description for the Personal Trainer position at GTA-IB Management LLC?
POSITION OBJECTIVE
Personal Trainers provide one-on-one fitness instruction and develop programs and choose exercises. Trainers evaluate their clients’ physical fitness and keep track of progress. Trainers must be able to demonstrate the movements and exercises recommended. They also provide encouragement and support for the client and recognize the client’s strengths and weaknesses.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provides excellent customer service and monitors guest feedback through the use GSI and other customer care techniques.
Helps to ensure facility is only accessed by members and/or guests, and that it is safe and secure at all times.
Promotes all facility programs/activities by discussing other department areas that may assist members with total facility experience. Must keep current with facility calendar – programs, events, and activities.
Designs and implements individual workout programs. Demonstrates proper form and technique on the use of cardiovascular and strength training equipment.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge about exercise, health, and fitness by remaining current with industry trends.
Participates in facility by accomplishing related results as needed.
Assists staff with lifting and storing facility equipment, furniture, and products to help maintain facility and prepare special events.
Provides individualized and group Pilates instruction utilizing both Mat and Reformer Pilates equipment.
Designs and implements Pilates programs that align with client goals, fitness levels, and physical abilities.
Demonstrates proper Pilates techniques, alignment, breathing patterns, and equipment usage to ensure participant safety and effectiveness.
Maintains Pilates equipment, including Reformers and related apparatus, ensuring all equipment is clean, safe, and in proper working condition.
Monitors participant progress and modifies exercises as necessary to accommodate varying fitness levels, physical limitations, or special considerations.
Educates members and guests on the benefits of Pilates and promotes Pilates programming and services offered by the Fitness Center.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
College degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field preferred.
Current certification from a nationally recognized personal training organization such as ACE, NASM, ACSM, NSCA, AFAA, or equivalent.
Valid CPR and First Aid certifications required.
Certification in Mat and Reformer Pilates instruction from a recognized Pilates education provider required.
Comprehensive Pilates Certification from a recognized program such as Balanced Body, STOTT Pilates, BASI Pilates, Power Pilates, Club Pilates Teacher Training, or equivalent preferred.
Candidates pursuing or eligible for National Pilates Certification may be considered based on experience and qualifications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of a comprehensive Pilates education program consisting of 450 or more hours of training, including Mat, Reformer, Cadillac/Trapeze Table, Chair, Barrel work, anatomy, observation hours, and supervised teaching hours.
Experience teaching Pilates in a resort, spa, country club, or luxury hospitality environment.
May be required to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems.
Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 8 hours per day.
Must be able to stand and/or walk for up to 8 hours per day.
Must be able to lift 45-pound weight plates.
Ability to; sit, stand, bend, and squat for extended periods of time.
Requires grasping, writing, typing, standing, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
Talking and hearing occur in the process of communicating with others.
Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, 10-key adding machine, computers, multi-line phones, filing cabinets, photocopiers and other office equipment as needed.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to change activity frequently and cope with interruptions.
Must be willing comply with all reasonable work instruction, Company policies and departmental procedures, as well as proper requests or instructions given by your Supervisor or other Management Personnel.
Must be able to work effectively in a stressful environment, communicate with others, effectively deal with customers and accept constructive criticism from peers.
