Responsibilities
The Expected Pay Range For This Position Is
$235,000 - $310,000 per year
Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, health insurance with an optional HSA, short term disability, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, 401K, vacation, sick time, and an employee assistance program. Responsibilities
- Represent clients in state and local tax controversies at various stages, including audits, administrative appeals, and judicial proceedings
- Handle matters involving multistate tax issues, including but not limited to income and franchise tax, sales and use and other transactional tax, transfer tax, property tax, and employment and payroll tax issues
- Support and manage matters in state courts as well as before various state and municipal taxing authorities
- Draft pleadings, briefs, memoranda, protest letters, and other legal documents in connection with tax disputes and litigation
- Assist in representing client interest in legislative and government relations matters
- May also work on federal tax matters on occasion
- Solid academic credentials from a top law school, LLM in Taxation required
- 2 to 4 years of experience in tax law, with a meaningful focus on tax controversy, SALT, or related litigation
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Admission to one or more state bars is required
