Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to the individual, assisting with activities of daily living such as grooming, dressing, feeding, and mobility
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors
- Support communication through various methods including verbal cues and American Sign Language as needed
- Assist with medication administration following prescribed protocols to ensure safety and health
- Collect data on daily routines, behaviors, and progress to inform care plans and share updates with team members
- Facilitate community outings, appointments, and recreational activities to encourage social engagement and independence
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to health and safety guidelines and conducting regular safety checks
Requirements
- 10 years Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or behavioral health needs
- Knowledge of special education principles and behavior management techniques
- Proficiency in communication skills, including the use of American Sign Language preferred
- Ability to assist with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) such as hygiene, feeding, and mobility support
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for community outings and transportation responsibilities
- Home & community care experience is highly desirable
- Strong observational skills for data collection and behavior tracking
- Compassionate attitude combined with patience, flexibility, and excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team setting
