Indirect Tax Analyst
Contract through June 2026 with option to extend or convert
Nashville, TN | Onsite (4 to 5 days per week)
Pay: $20-22 per hour
We are looking for an experienced Indirect Tax Analyst to support a high-volume tax compliance function for a major organization in Nashville. This is a contract role running through June 2026 with no guarantee of conversion.
What You’ll Do
• Manage customer sales tax exemption certificates and maintain accurate documentation
• Maintain jurisdiction files, tax tracking sheets, and all monthly, quarterly, and annual indirect tax return files
• Prepare, file, and review original and amended indirect tax returns across multiple states
• Maintain and renew business licenses to ensure compliance with filing deadlines
• Submit journal entries, pay slips, and check requests for indirect tax filings
• Support state and local sales tax audits including gathering and organizing required documentation
• Communicate with taxing authorities, internal teams, branch locations, and management
• Research sales and use tax requirements across various states
• Assist with additional tax and compliance tasks as needed
What You Need
• High School Diploma or GED
• 1 years of indirect tax accounting experience
• Strong working knowledge of indirect tax compliance processes
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with regular deadlines
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and related tools
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage several tasks simultaneously
Preferred Skills
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience with Vertex Series O or Vertex Returns software
Work Environment
• Onsite role, 4 to 5 days per week
• Primarily sedentary work requiring extensive computer use
• Occasional travel may be required
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
