Mechanical Engineer - Hyperscale Data Centers
Location: Kansas City, MO
Working Structure: On-Site - 5 Days a week
Compensation/Hourly Rate: Up to ~ $165/Hour
Contract Length: 2 Year minimum
We have partnered with a premier mission-critical infrastructure developer currently scaling to meet a massive surge in their data center and technology campus portfolio. Backed by substantial institutional capital, this firm operates with a lean, highly efficient elite engineering and construction team.
They are at a significant growth point, currently delivering a flagship, massive-scale campus in the Kansas City region. This is a role for a Mechanical Engineer who thrives on technical autonomy but wants the backing of a major player.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Data Center Mechanical & HVAC Controls: Drive engineering oversight for high-density cooling systems. Deeply analyze, review, and troubleshoot the Sequence of Operations (SOO) and complex building management controls.
- Campus Water Infrastructure: Lead the technical remit for massive water infrastructure projects, including dedicated Water Treatment Plants (WTP), Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP), storage tanks, wells, and heavy distribution pipelines.
- Site Civil & Wet Utilities: Own the cross-discipline alignment for complex campus plumbing, heavy civil site works, and utility tie-ins, ensuring infrastructure meets rigorous mission-critical standards.
- Vendor & Partner Liaison: Direct external design consultants, general contractors, and client discipline SMEs, serving as the technical anchor between the field and the internal design/construction teams.
What we are looking for?
- Experience: Proven track record in mechanical engineering, specifically within heavy MEP, high-performance computing (HPC), data centers, semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, or major hospital/healthcare sectors.
- Background: A strong foundation in heavy industrial or mission-critical environments.
- Technical Competencies: Exceptional HVAC and controls knowledge is a must. While your core is mechanical, you must possess enough plumbing and site civil/wet utility exposure to confidently read and interpret complex, multi-discipline drawings.
- Location: Must be based in or willing to relocate to the Kansas City area to provide dedicated on-site campus oversight.
