Metallurgical Lab Technician - 12 hr shift 6:00 am to 6:30 pm

Position Summary

The metallurgy technician assists with the production, processing, and testing of metals and alloys. This involves a variety of tasks including sample preparation, laboratory equipment operation, sample evaluation, chemical testing, and data analysis.

Primary Responsibilities-

• Ensuring adherence to all safety procedures and quality control standards in the laboratory.
• Following safety guidelines and procedures when operating equipment and handling samples.
• Preparing metal and alloy samples for various tests, including microscopic examination, chemical analysis, and mechanical testing.
• Operating and maintaining lab equipment like spectrometers, hardness testers, and microscopes.
• Conducting physical, chemical, and mechanical tests on metal samples to determine their composition, structure, and properties.
• Approving materials that meet established criteria and reporting exceptions as they occur.
• Recording test results, analyzing data, and preparing reports, often using charts and graphs.
• Identifying and addressing quality issues.
• Working with other technicians, engineers, and production staff to resolve issues and share information.
• Assisting with research and development projects related to new materials and processes.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a metallurgical space or in material science is preferred.
• Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel) is required.
• Prior experience working in a laboratory or other controlled environment is preferred.
• Good interpersonal skills involving ability to work effectively cross-functionally and cross-culturally.
• Good written and verbal communication skills for meetings and presentations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
