About the position
Gryphon Home Repair is looking for a reliable part-time helper to assist with residential repair, maintenance, make-ready, and punch-list projects.
This is an owner-led helper position. You will generally work alongside the owner while learning our procedures and helping complete projects safely, efficiently, and professionally. As trust and experience develop, there may be opportunities to handle appropriate tasks more independently.
We work primarily in occupied homes, so professionalism, dependability, cleanliness, and care around customers’ property are extremely important.
Typical responsibilities
- Carry, organize, and stage tools and materials
- Protect floors, furniture, and finished surfaces
- Perform jobsite setup and cleanup
- Assist with painting preparation, masking, sanding, and caulking
- Assist with trim work and other basic carpentry
- Perform light demolition
- Help with minor repairs and punch-list work
- Pick up materials or supplies when needed
- Follow instructions and maintain an orderly, professional jobsite
Qualifications
- Dependable and able to arrive on time
- Reliable transportation to jobsites in the Springfield area
- Comfortable performing physical construction work
- Able to lift and carry building materials and tools
- Comfortable working from ladders and spending extended periods standing, kneeling, or bending
- Able to follow directions and ask questions when something is unclear
- Careful around finished surfaces and customers’ belongings
- Professional and respectful when working in occupied homes
- Some experience in construction, remodeling, property maintenance, painting, carpentry, or handyman work is strongly preferred
Advanced trade skills are not required. Reliability, attitude, basic mechanical ability, and willingness to learn are more important than knowing how to do everything already.
