Job summary

Safety Specialist to support ground handling operations and promote a culture of safety across the station. This role assists with safety inspections, incident reporting, compliance monitoring, and employee engagement to ensure adherence to company, airport, airline, and regulatory requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with aviation operational experience who are looking to grow their careers in safety and compliance.

Key responsibility

  • Support daily safety initiatives throughout ground handling operations.
  • Conduct routine safety observations and inspections of work areas and equipment.
  • Assist with incident, injury, and accident investigations.
  • Document findings and maintain accurate safety records and reports.
  • Promote compliance with company policies and established operating procedures.
  • Participate in safety meetings and communicate best practices to employees.
  • Assist with employee coaching and corrective actions related to safety matters.
  • Support the effectiveness of our corporate safety management system (SMS), safety training initiatives, and safety policies/procedures.
  • Support the consistency of established processes and standards to meet or exceed Safety Metrics and safety compliance goals
  • Monitor the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Support OSHA, ISAGO, airport, TSA, and airline compliance requirements.
  • Track trends and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Partner with operational leaders to address hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist with training activities and new employee safety orientations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Aviation Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of aviation operations, safety, quality assurance, or related experience preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply documented procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and follow through on assignments.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees and leadership at all levels.
  • Must successfully pass all required pre-employment screenings, including a drug test and background check.
