Join the clinical team at Platte Valley Hospital as a Full-time Sonographer II (Ultrasound Technologist II). In this advanced role, you will perform ultrasound examinations under the direction of a physician, focusing on accurate identification of abnormalities while providing excellent customer service. This position is for the weekend night shift, offering a unique schedule with premium pay potential.
Essential Functions
- Advanced Clinical Competency: Maintain American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and modality-specific competency in all clinical and technical functions.
- Proficiency: Demonstrate proficiency with all clinical equipment within the department and all exam types. This includes performing exams per department protocol and reviewing images for quality, clarity, and accuracy.
- Patient Management: Ensure proper patient identification, order verification, and preparation. Provide appropriate patient education, ensure comfort, and address concerns.
- Efficiency and Safety: Complete studies within acceptable time limits without compromising patient care or quality. Adhere to infection control and sterile techniques, and exhibit good safety practices (e.g., body substance protection, cleaning equipment, removing expired materials).
- Technical Operation: Understand and operate equipment and related information systems to ensure quality images.
- Documentation and Compliance: Thoroughly and accurately complete all required documentation (including time stamps and image storage). Follow protocols for medical necessity, coding, charging, consents, QC programs, and reporting equipment failures.
- Mentorship: Assist and instruct students and other Radiology Techs in exam protocols, procedures, positioning, and equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Must have completed a minimum of two additional years of experience relevant to the department post obtaining Ultrasound Tech I. (Note: For Primary Children’s, one of these two years must be pediatric experience).
- Advanced Registry: American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) Registry. This must include successful completion of one additional registry pertinent to the department beyond Ultrasound Technologist I (or SPI 2 registries). Options include OB/GYN, abdominal, neuro, breast, pediatric, Vascular, or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS).
- Life Support: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional experience beyond the minimum requirement.
- Additional registries (certifications) beyond the minimum requirement.
- Vascular experience.
Shift Details and Compensation
- Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36 hours (Full-time).
- Shift Details: Weekend Night Shift: Friday - Sunday, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3x 12-hour shifts).
- Hourly Range: The hourly rate for this position is $42.66 - $65.82, dependent upon experience.
- Premium Pay: Shift differentials are given for evenings, nights, and weekends.
- Benefits: This position is Benefits Eligible.
