Job Overview
As a Registered Nurse on our Medical/Surgical Unit, you will be the core of patient care delivery, acting as both the clinical expert and the compassionate advocate for patients. You will drive positive health outcomes daily through expert execution of the nursing process, collaborative teamwork, and an unwavering commitment to meeting the diverse needs of our patients, their families, and visitors with courtesy, kindness, and respect. Key Responsibilities
- Patient Care Leadership & Service: Promote and restore patient health by expertly completing the nursing process. This includes administering specialized treatment procedures, collaborating proactively with physicians and multidisciplinary team members, and providing essential physical, educational, and emotional support to patients and their support networks.
- Team Supervision: Guide and oversee the clinical activities of assigned team members to ensure coordinated and high-quality care delivery.
- Individualized Care Planning: Develop, document, and continuously update customized care plans that address each patient’s unique health needs, working in collaboration with the interdisciplinary health team.
- Effective Communication: Maintain consistent and clear communication channels to accurately convey patient health status, outline treatment plans, and report progress to the care team and leadership.
- Electronic Health Record (EHR) Proficiency: Demonstrate mastery in utilizing the Electronic Health Record system, ensuring all patient and provider documentation, as well as communication, is accurate and completed in a timely manner.
- Regulatory Compliance: Strictly adhere to all required departmental protocols, system-wide standards, and all relevant local, state, and federal regulations and educational mandates.
Requirements
- Education: Completion of an Associate of Science (AS) Degree in Nursing (or equivalent).
- Licensure: Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED).
- Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Physical Demands: Physical capacity to perform Medium Work (exerting $20$ to $50$ pounds of force occasionally, and/or $10$ to $25$ pounds of force frequently, and/or up to $10$ pounds of force constantly to move objects). The role requires frequent walking, standing, or squatting.
