Job Overview
Join the imaging service line at Saint Joseph Hospital as a Full-time Echo Sonographer Lead. This leadership position is responsible for performing a variety of diagnostic cardiac/vascular exams while leading the workflow, training, and quality initiatives of the department's associates. You will act as a key resource, ensuring the highest level of technical support and patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Workflow: Leads the work of the associates in the department. Implements directives related to adjusting staffing levels based on service needs and volumes. Rounds on patients and staff and provides follow-up with families/patients.
- Training and Quality: Coordinates orientation and training of new associates. Ensures staff competency through proper training techniques and conducts quality audits.
- Clinical Expertise: Acts as a technical resource and provides support. Teaches new and evolving technologies and leads the implementation of new exam procedures.
- Process Improvement: Leads and actively participates in improvement initiatives and problem-solving efforts related to patient safety, care, and service.
- Administrative and Compliance: Participates in policy and procedure development. Monitors supply and equipment inventory, and ensures compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines and accreditation standards.
- Human Resources Support (May Include): May participate in the interview process and provide feedback to the leadership team on candidates. Provides performance feedback for associates.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Certification: RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) or RCS (Reg Cardiac Sonographer) is required. New graduate hires must obtain registry within 18 months of hire.
- Experience: Three (3) years of relevant clinical experience is required.
- Life Support: Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) course completion card from the American Heart Association is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Associate's degree is preferred.
- Experience: Prior experience working with students and leadership experience is preferred.
- Advanced Life Support: ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification is preferred.
