What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physical Therapist | Part-Time Contract | School-Based position at Growth2Success?
Help Students Move. Help Students Learn. Do It on Your Terms.
This is not a hospital. It is not a clinic. It is a school, and the work you do here follows students into every part of their day. When a student can navigate the hallway independently, access the playground safely, or sit comfortably in class without pain, that is because of what you brought to their team. If school-based practice is where you feel most purposeful, this opportunity was built for you.
We are sourcing on behalf of a confidential school-based client in the Washington DC area seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and student-centered Physical Therapist for a part-time contract role across multiple school settings.
What You Will Be Doing
You will provide physical therapy services to students across individual, small group, and classroom-based settings. Your focus will be on mobility, gross motor development, balance, coordination, posture, gait, positioning, and functional access within the school environment. You are not just treating a condition. You are helping a student get to lunch, participate in PE, and move through their school day with confidence and independence.
Day to day your responsibilities will include conducting evaluations, screenings, and assessments related to gross motor and functional mobility needs. Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans and therapy goals. Participating in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions. Collaborating with teachers, families, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and school staff to support each student holistically. Recommending adaptive equipment, positioning supports, and environmental accommodations where appropriate. Maintaining accurate and timely documentation, service logs, progress notes, and evaluation reports in compliance with district, state, and federal standards.
Who This Is For
You hold a doctorate or master's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program and carry an active state license as a Physical Therapist. School-based or pediatric experience is preferred but if you are coming from another setting and have a genuine passion for working with kids in educational environments we want to hear from you.
Beyond your credentials you bring strong interpersonal skills, a student-centered mindset, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. You are flexible enough to adapt across different school settings and organized enough to stay on top of documentation and timelines without it consuming your practice.
Reliable transportation, consistent professionalism, and the ability to pass required background clearances and onboarding requirements are expected.
What Makes This Opportunity Worth Your Time
This is a part-time contract role which means you are not locked into a rigid full-time schedule. You have flexibility without sacrificing the quality or depth of the work. You will be placed across diverse school settings in the Washington DC area, each one bringing its own student population, team dynamic, and clinical challenge.
The compensation is competitive and based on your experience and assignment type. You will have access to a supportive clinical network, collaborative school partnerships, and the kind of meaningful daily work that reminds you why you got into this field in the first place.
What You Will Not Find Here
You will not find a high pressure quota driven environment. You will not be asked to rush through sessions to hit billing targets. This is school-based practice where the goal is student success and your role is to support that in the most thoughtful and effective way possible.
Who Should Apply
Licensed Physical Therapists who want flexibility without sacrificing impact. Clinicians who thrive in collaborative, multidisciplinary environments. Professionals who are passionate about pediatric and school-based practice and want to work somewhere that actually values that specialization.
New graduates with the right foundational skills and a genuine interest in school-based work are encouraged to apply. Mentorship and support are available.
