Job Summary:
The Janitorial Technician is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and safety across a large-scale industrial manufacturing facility totaling 530,000 square feet. This includes production areas, offices, restrooms, breakrooms, and common areas. The technician must adhere to strict safety protocols, environmental guidelines, and industry-specific cleaning standards to ensure a clean and hazard-free environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine cleaning of all facility areas, including production floors, warehouse, office spaces, restrooms, locker rooms, cafeterias, and conference rooms.
- Collect and dispose of waste and recyclable materials from designated areas.
- Clean and sanitize high-touch surfaces regularly, including doors, railings, light switches, and shared equipment.
- Perform deep cleaning tasks as scheduled or required (e.g., degreasing floors, strip and wax of hard floors).
- Follow strict safety protocols in compliance with OSHA, company policies, and hazardous materials handling (e.g., MSDS knowledge).
- Use proper PPE and cleaning chemicals according to manufacturer's instructions and company standards.
- Respond promptly to spills or other emergency clean-up needs to minimize slip/fall risks and production delays.
- Ensure all cleaning supplies and chemicals are stored properly and safely.
- Coordinate with maintenance and operations teams to ensure cleaning does not interfere with production.
- Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply shortages to supervisors promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities, schedules, and inspections as required.
- Exposure to loud machinery, dust, and fluctuating temperatures.
- May require working in confined spaces or elevated areas.
- Standing or walking for long periods; occasional lifting, climbing, or reaching.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of industrial cleaning methods, tools, and materials
- Ability to operate industrial cleaning equipment such as auto scrubbers, sweepers, vacuums, pressure washers, and floor buffers.
- 3–5 years of janitorial or industrial cleaning experience in a large facility (manufacturing, warehouse, or commercial setting).
- Experience using industrial cleaning equipment and chemicals safely.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
- Good physical stamina and ability to walk, stand, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and cleanliness.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
Certifications (Preferred but Not Required):
- OSHA 10/30 Certification
- HAZMAT or HAZWOPER training
- Forklift certification (if applicable to duties)
