Position Overview
The Value Stream Supervisor – Paint is responsible for leading a defined segment of the coating value stream, including surface preparation, paint application, and finishing processes. This role ensures consistent flow, improves First Pass Yield (FPY), and drives performance against cycle time, takt time, and on-time delivery in a contract manufacturing environment.
The Value Stream Supervisor plays a key role in managing flow, reducing defects, and driving Continuous Improvement across coating operations.
Key Responsibilities
Value Stream Flow & Coating Operations
• Lead day-to-day paint and coating operations across a defined value stream
• Manage WIP, identify bottlenecks, and ensure consistent production flow
• Ensure coating execution aligns with specifications, work instructions, and BOM requirements
• Maintain alignment with production schedules and downstream operations
Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement
• Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives including 5S, Kaizen, and Continuous Improvement
• Apply Root Cause Analysis, 5 Whys, and Fishbone methodologies to eliminate defects
• Improve cycle time and takt time through process optimization • Identify constraints in coating processes and implement improvements
KPI Ownership & Performance Management
• Monitor KPIs including First Pass Yield (FPY), defect rates, throughput, cycle time, takt time, and safety
• Reduce rework and improve coating consistency
• Ensure ISO9001 compliance and adherence to quality standards
• Establish accountability for performance across coating teams
Cross-Functional Alignment
• Partner with Engineering and Quality to resolve coating defects and process issues
• Collaborate with Supply Chain to ensure material readiness
• Coordinate with Production Planning to maintain flow and meet delivery targets
Leadership & Development
- Lead and develop coating technicians
• Reinforce safety, quality, and performance expectations
• Build capability in Lean Manufacturing and structured problem solving
Required Qualifications
• 3–7 years of experience in Paint Supervisor, Manufacturing Supervisor, or Value Stream Supervisor roles
• Experience in industrial manufacturing or contract manufacturing
• Strong knowledge of coating, surface prep, and finishing processes
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with powder coating, wet paint systems, or blasting
• Industrial or coatings background
Salary : $95,000 - $115,000
