Position Summary:
GTI Energy is seeking a dedicated Quality Weld Inspector for Second Shift to ensure welded components meet internal and external quality standards. This role plays a key part in verifying weld quality through visual and non-destructive inspections and supports GTI’s commitment to precision and compliance across all welded assemblies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspection of welded parts, assemblies, and structures per GTI, AWS, and ASME standards.
- Evaluate and verify weld quality using weld gauges, blueprints, and measurement tools.
- Interpret welding symbols, specifications, and engineering drawings.
- Identify and document nonconforming welds and assist in root cause analysis and corrective action.
- Support welder qualification testing and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
- Communicate quality concerns to welders and production leadership in real time.
- Accurately document findings and enter inspection data into quality databases and forms.
- Ensure all inspections and records comply with company policies and customer requirements.
- Participate in audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a safe and organized work area, adhering to GTI Energy safety standards.
Qualifications:
**Required:**
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of welding inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, and other applicable codes.
- Ability to read blueprints and understand welding symbols.
- Must be able to work second shift hours consistently.
**Preferred:**
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
- NDT Level I or II certification in PT, MT, or UT.
- Experience in defense, aerospace, or contract manufacturing.
Skills and Competencies:
- Detail-oriented with strong visual acuity and judgment.
- Effective communicator who can collaborate with welders, engineers, and production staff.
- Strong documentation and computer skills (Microsoft Office, quality systems).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on second shift.
Working Conditions:
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to welding operations, noise, and PPE requirements.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for prolonged periods.
- May require occasional overtime or weekend work.
