Electrical Lead – Manufacturing

About the Role
The Electrical Lead at GTI Fabrication’s Buffalo manufacturing site is responsible for leading and overseeing all electrical work within an industrial production environment. This role supports both new construction and ongoing maintenance of manufacturing equipment, energy systems, and facility infrastructure.
The Electrical Lead will supervise a team of electricians and electrical technicians, coordinate closely with maintenance leadership, engineering, and production teams, and ensure all electrical work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes and standards. This position plays a key role in minimizing downtime, improving reliability, and supporting continuous manufacturing operations.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
Completion of a recognized electrical apprenticeship program
Valid electrician license or certification per New York State requirements
Minimum 5 years of hands-on electrical experience in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
Previous experience leading or supervising electricians in an industrial or manufacturing environment
Strong working knowledge of NEC and OSHA safety standards
Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
Experience with industrial manufacturing equipment, motor controls, and power distribution
Working knowledge of PLCs, automation systems, and industrial controls
Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs
Experience with electrical schematics, digital documentation, and CMMS systems
Project management experience or certification (PMP a plus)
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of electricians and electrical technicians within the manufacturing facility
Plan, schedule, and assign electrical work to support production, maintenance, and capital projects
Ensure all electrical installations, repairs, and modifications comply with NEC, OSHA, and company safety policies
Troubleshoot complex electrical issues related to manufacturing equipment, controls, and facility systems
Perform and oversee inspections, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems
Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to minimize downtime and support operational goals
Train team members on safe work practices, procedures, and technical skills
Maintain accurate documentation including work orders, inspections, safety records, and compliance reports
Manage electrical materials, tools, and inventory to ensure availability and cost control
