Grow West is looking for a Sales Manager to join our team. The Sales Manager is responsible for managing, leading, and directing the North Valley sales team members. Including, but not limited to, retail strategy and implementation; personnel development; operational oversight; and financial results. Responsible for managing the customer experience across the location service areas. Develop and implement programs to establish Grow West as a leading, value-added provider of agronomic products and services to growers. Provide strong leadership in recruiting, motivating, and retaining employees. The Grow West North Valley Sales Manager is encouraged to participate in industry and community agriculture-related functions and events.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Tasked to manage the overall customer experience and provide customer support for the Grow West North Valley sales team.*
• Play an active role in the monthly forecasting process.*
• Maintains their own book of business and assists with recruiting, training, and performance management of the sales staff.*
• Responsible for business and personnel strategic planning and execution of the North Valley sales staff.*
• Work alongside the Grow West Human Resources team to foster a collaborative team approach.*
• Communicate the Grow West strategy and associated goals to sales, operations, and support staff.*
• Offer business and agronomic support to sales team.*
• Collaborate with the North Valley Retail Manager with hiring and the alignment of sales staff within geographies and customers.*
• Act as a mentor in overall career development of the North Valley sales staff.*
• As part of an overall performance management plan, conduct annual performance reviews, while aiding and advising the sales employees.*
• Provide coaching and feedback to employees throughout the year.*
• Address poor performance with progressive discipline and use of performance improvement plans.*
• Coordinate effective team training and skill development for sales staff in coordination with the North Valley Retail Manager.*
• Mentor interns and newly hired PCA/CCA staff. *
• Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers.*
• Identify potential new customers, develop an engagement strategy, and execute a sales plan, in coordination with North Valley Manager.*
• Provide pricing and margin guidance for the region in coordination with the North Valley Retail Manager.*
• Develop the appropriate approach to creating, communicating, and managing pricing.*
• Drive customer segmentation process with follow-up guidance, i.e., pricing, time spent, etc.*
• Provide guidance to sales on complaint handling and risk-management.*
• Work with the Grow West Tech Team to review and create new products, i.e., fertilizer, crop protection, value-added nutrition, technology, and seed.*
• Assist field sales with customer sales plan for each potential product segment and customer.*
• Regularly communicate the customer management plan, including initiatives, objectives, and strategies with regional management, sales, and operations.*
• Communicate with Grow West Management and Procurement team on product selection, pricing, and overall strategy.*
• Acts as a liaison for customer engagement and community involvement.*
• Inventory management by reviewing P&L statements, overseeing monthly audits, and fiscal year-end checks.*
• Create ways to collaborate with other Grow West locations and services.*
• Responsible for overseeing and assisting with the coordination of meetings, included but not limited to Grower Meetings, Sales Meetings, Safety Meetings, Label Updates for Fertilizer and Chemicals, etc.*
• Lead, prioritize, and support safety efforts across the region.*
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of
•Proficient working with Microsoft Office Suite
Education/Experience:
•Minimum of five years of experience in agriculture business with a demonstrated track record in sales and marketing.
•Previous experience managing people is preferred, but not required.
•Bachelors degree or higher in Agriculture or Business-related field, is preferred.
Preferred Requirements:
•Demonstrated business acumen capability: scenario analysis, cost-benefit, financial, and commercial KPI’s.
•Strong knowledge of Grow West’s business and sales transactions
•Proven individual leadership skills and change management experience.
