Lab Assistant - Fall

Lab Assistant Position Overview:

Grow Pro Genetics is hiring two Lab Assistants for the Fall of 2026. Throughout the fall, the Lab Assistant will become familiar with the work it takes to develop and deliver high quality wheat varieties to farmers. The Lab Assistant is responsible for carrying out duties to further the research objectives of the Soft Red Winter Wheat breeding program based in Hamel, IL. The Lab Assistant will work under the direction of the Operations Manager for Grow Pro Genetics, LLC. The primary duties of the Lab Assistant will be to assist in the processing and organization of wheat according to the standards set forth by the Director of Research.

Essential duties and Responsibilities:

• Attention to detail.
• Process harvested wheat according to processing protocols.
• Organize, sort inventory, and package seed.
• Keep all work areas clean and organized.
• Follow all safety precautions and report any safety issues to Operations Manager.

Position Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

- Education

• High School diploma or GED with enrollment in college program.

- Experience/Qualifications

• Recommendation from previous employer and/or professor/teacher.

- Competencies

• Follow written protocols and procedures.
• Communicate clearly and effectively with manager regarding processes as well as scheduling.

Working Conditions (Physical & Mental Requirements)

• Work around wheat dust and pollen.
• Lift 30 lbs repeatedly.
• Read and follow written protocols.
• Work within a team to accomplish team goals.
