We are currently seeking a full-time experienced Family Child Care Home Specialist to join our team in Columbia, SC.
Essential Functions
As the Family Child Care Home Specialist, (FCCHS) this position implements and oversees the Family Child Care Option program by monitoring contracted providers, conducting site visits, and ensuring quality childcare services for eligible low-income families.
This role collaborates with local resource agencies, facilitates provider selection, and coordinates training to support both providers and parents in meeting program standards.
Education and Experience:
Accepted: Bachelor in Early Childhood Education or related field; supervisory and related years of teaching experience. Experience must be in a licensed day care center, comparable home day care or group childcare program for children ages (0 – 5).
Preferred: Master in Early Childhood Education or related field; supervisory and related years of teaching experience. Experience must be in Head Start, licensed day care center, comparable home day care or group childcare program for children ages (0 – 5).
You must have excellent communication, organization and time management skills and proficient computer skills (Microsoft applications: Word, Excel and Outlook). It is preferred that you have experience coaching, mentoring, and possess leadership and team building skills.
Skills, Knowledge, and Ability:
Effective verbal and written communication, organization and time management skills. Basic computer skills (Microsoft applications: Word, Excel and Outlook.) Coaching; mentoring; leadership ability and team building skills desired. Knowledge of farmworker culture and lifestyle. Bilingual English / Spanish preferred. Typical office and childcare center environment. Travel independently into rural areas in/out of state (3-4 times per week) with occasional overnight stay.
Essential Functions:
- Recruit, enroll and re-certify children in the Family Child Care Program in each service area according to Grow Early Learning and state licensing eligibility criteria.
- Conducts family intakes to enroll or refer as appropriate.
- Meet with parents to fill out the Family Survey or Family Partnership Agreements and help them to locate and connect with community resources.
- Assist in identifying special needs children and referring them for assessment and appropriate services.
- Obtain pertinent medical and educational information needed for documentation for special needs children.
- Assist families in obtaining a medical home and health, nutrition, and dental care resources.
- Conducts home visits and conferences with parents as required and needed in service areas.
- Recruit and contract licensed childcare providers to provide services for eligible children in Grow Early Learning programs.
- Provide on-site training and technical assistance.
- Develops and provides educational materials and curriculum activities for all childcare providers, including child nutrition, child abuse reporting procedures, health and safety information, and overall best practices.
- Conduct monthly parent and provider meetings.
