The Volunteer Coordinator is the central hub for our volunteer program. This person will manage 30–70 volunteers at varying levels of engagement and ensure they are informed, scheduled, motivated, and deployed effectively across canvassing shifts, community events, and outreach activities.
This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, people-savvy, proactive, and comfortable managing communication across multiple channels, especially WhatsApp. This is a temporary role. February 2026 - July 2026
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Management & Coordination
• Recruit, onboard, and manage a volunteer pool of 30–100 individuals
• Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers, answering questions and resolving issues quickly
• Match volunteers to appropriate activities based on availability, skills, and location
Scheduling & Deployment
• Schedule volunteers for:
• Canvassing shifts
• Farmers markets
• Community events and festivals
• Door-knocking and outreach activities
• Ensure volunteers know where to go, when to arrive, and what to expect
• Track attendance, coverage, and no-shows; adjust schedules as needed
Communication & Momentum Building
• Manage the organization’s volunteer WhatsApp group(s)
• Send regular updates, reminders, and calls-to-action
• Maintain volunteer enthusiasm, engagement, and accountability
• Create a sense of community and shared purpose among volunteers
Coordination with Internal Team
• Work closely with the Engagement & Outreach team to align volunteer efforts with campaign priorities
• Relay feedback from the field to staff leadership
• Support on-the-ground logistics during major events as needed
Tracking & Organization
• Maintain accurate volunteer records, schedules, and participation logs
• Assist with reporting on volunteer engagement and activity levels
