What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Administrator position at Groves Electrical Services?
Essential Functions
The payroll administrator is responsible for ensuring that all tasks related to payroll processing are completed including:
- Supervising the payroll process to ensure electronic and manual time entry.
- Ensuring that employees are paid accurately and on time, according to the weekly payroll schedule.
- Verify the usage and balances of PTO.
- Ensuring that the payroll process follows regulatory requirements.
- Assist financial staff with necessary weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting obligations.
- Work alongside other administrative staff to support business processes.
- Provide quality support and positive customer experience to all employees and management.
- Completing and processing all payroll tax withholding returns through the ADP system, includes reconciling from the source system to ADP’s system.
- Maintaining proper payroll tax accounts, opening new accounts as needed, paying the occupational tax license fees and keeping account information current within the ADP system.
- Ensuring all payroll tax deadlines are met in a timely manner.
- Working with the Accounting Manager and Controller to ensure all departmental training is completed.
- Develop a general understanding of common accounting practices as it relates to the payroll process, and creating and maintaining documented payroll processes to establish core practices.
- Ensure all SOX control guidelines are followed in all payroll processes.
- Works with finance team to develop and understand and complete all year end processes, such as W-2 filings, annual tax reconciliations, and all annual returns.
- Maintaining and expanding payroll processes as needed to support developmental growth.
- Additional duties as required.

Experience with the following preferred:
- Certified Payroll - Including Prevailing Wages and IRA Compliance
- Processing of garnishments, deductions, tax levies, child support
- SOX compliance
- Windows Operating Systems
- Payroll Taxes
Preferred/Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma is required, Associate’s degree, or equivalent, in business or finance preferred.
- 5 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position holds no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in an office environment.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, 40 hours a week, overtime as required.
