Job Title: Principal R&D Engineer (Wafer Fabrication / Process Development)
Duration: 12 months
Type: W2 contract
Location: Tempe, AZ (Onsite)
We are seeking a Principal R&D Engineer to support the development and transfer of wafer-based manufacturing processes into high-volume production. The role focuses on building robust, scalable, and cost-effective semiconductor processes and ensuring smooth transition from R&D to manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities & Skills:
• Wafer fabrication process development with a strong focus on thin film / PVD metal deposition and photolithography
• Design and optimization of microfabrication / MEMS processes
• Strong expertise in DOE (Design of Experiments), statistical process control, and process validation
• Hands-on experience with process characterization, IQ/OQ/PQ, and gage R&R studies
• Application of Design for Reliability Manufacturing (DRM), Lean Six Sigma, and DFSS methodologies
• Equipment qualification, troubleshooting, and automated tool integration
• Strong data-driven approach using tools like Minitab / JMP
• Collaboration with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure process compatibility and yield improvement
• Experience in high-volume semiconductor or wafer fabrication environments preferred.
Must Have: Minimum Qualifications
University Degree and minimum 7 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
Experience with wafer fabrication processes, including equipment/process development or manufacturing operations.
