What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance and Set Up Technician position at Groupe PPD?
The Maintenance and Set-up Technician performs a wide variety of general building maintenance, repairs, and services throughout the plant. The maintenance and set-up team member will assist in the preparation of compression presses, finishing equipment, and other related equipment for operation according to the current production priorities. Responsible for changing parts, repairing the mechanical components of tools, equipment, and machinery. Will also perform all other routine maintenance work such as adjusting and calibrating equipment and machinery.
Responsibilities:
- Preparation, installation, troubleshooting, and removal of compression molds;
- Verify mold operation and readiness prior to installation and start-up;
- Maintenance of all plant equipment (hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, etc.);
- Preventive maintenance of assigned equipment, tooling, and facilities;
- Troubleshooting of equipment as requested;
- Assist the Quality Assurance team to enhance product quality and resolve outstanding maintenance concerns associated with molds and/or equipment;
- Assist in other work areas as needed based on business requirements;
- Keep work area and equipment clean, safe, and in operable conditions
- Perform routing building repairs;
- Treat and maintain water quality to ensure proper cooling of molds and protecting chiller system;
- Operate and train personnel on operating equipment needed to perform daily job functions;
- Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures;
- Assist in other work areas as needed based on business requirements;
Work Experience Requirements:
- 2 years prior maintenance/mechanical experience preferred.
- Forklift certification preferred.
- PLC certification preferred.
- 2-3 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Hazardous Material Handling certification desired.
- Will be required to provide own tooling required in the performance of position.
Position Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associates degree in related field preferred
- Specific Skill Requirements:
- Must be able to read and interpret drawings, follow routers, use simple math to perform basic calculations, and use basic handheld measuring tools.
- Strong general mechanical skills.
- Ability to communicate and follow instructions, verbal and in writing.
- Capable of using both hands simultaneously to perform required functions of position.
- Ability to perform troubleshooting actions for problem resolution.
- Effective verbal, written, and mathematical skills.
- Team player with a “team first” mentality.
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods of standing.
- Able to walk and stand throughout an eight-hour day.
- Able to repetitively use arms, hands, and fingers in the manipulation of parts.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds routinely.
- Ability to withstand a variety of operating conditions.
Additionnal Requirements:
Final candidate will be required to successfully complete a drug and alcohol screen prior to employment.
