Job Summary
The Planning Manager analyzes sales and inventory performance, develops seasonal plans, and delivers data-driven insights to support business objectives. Working cross-functionally with Sales, Merchandising, Finance, Production, Customer Service, and other key stakeholders, this role helps drive strategic planning, forecasting, and profitable growth.
What you’ll do
- Analyze and publish weekly sales flash report and dashboard with commentary by account, market, category and door inclusive of sales, stock, sell-throughs, and margin.
- Utilize weekly sales reports to clearly articulate challenges, opportunities and risks to the sales team in order to achieve financial goals.
- Develop and maintain effective partnerships with cross-functional teams (sales team, merchandising, production, retail planning, customer service and finance) as well as external department store partners to drive business results.
- Partner with sales team to develop 6-month seasonal plans by account to include sales, receipt and margin plans at the door level to achieve wholesale fiscal year shipping budget.
- Develop pre-season sku and class plans by door cluster in collaboration with merchandising.
- Work with VP of Planning to develop recommended assortment plans by account and door cluster.
- Maintain open to buys by account in collaboration with sales team.
- Create and maintain RTV tracker to forecast end of season returns by account as well as any other agreements made during market.
- Partner with finance as needed to provide visibility to sales and returns.
- Liaise with SKYPAD team to maintain sales data integrity.
- Work closely with Sr Director of demand planning and allocation to assure 98% fill rate by account.
- Publish sales by door weekly and market share by account / door on a monthly basis.
- Collaborate with sales team to create pre market presentation by account with current business update, marketing spend, 6-month seasonal plan, and door opportunities that will be used with account management team to negotiate plans.
- Create Season Budget file by business and account that aligns with total fiscal year budget.
- Create and maintain projection file by season at sku level to be used for wholesale North America fabric estimates and buy.
- Utilize in-transit report to identify risks and opportunities against shipping budget
- Track selling and inventory availability for all styles on drop ship ensuring styles are in stock and available to ship.
What you’ll bring
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Supply Chain, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a planning role within a department store, vertical retailer, wholesale brand, or similar retail environment.
- Fashion, apparel, luxury retail, or consumer goods experience is preferred.
Technical skills & competencies:
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, SUMIFS, data analysis, and managing large datasets.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to identify trends, opportunities, and business risks.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and problem-solving abilities.
- Team player who builds collaborative relationships across departments.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present insights and recommendations clearly.
- Experience with ERP systems, planning tools, or business intelligence platforms (Power BI, Tableau, SAP, NetSuite, Oracle, etc.) is considered an asset.
