Insulator Circuit Breaker Technician
Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm
IRVING , TX
If you like taking complex electrical gear apart, fixing what is broken, and putting it back together better than it left, this role will feel like home. You will repair, upgrade, recondition, and remanufacture electrical equipment ranging from a single circuit breaker to full substation assemblies. You will work hands on with mechanical and electrical components, follow OEM documentation, and support customer requested service work with clean, accurate documentation.
What you will do
- Disassemble, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair circuit breakers and related electrical equipment
- Clean and prep electrical parts and assemblies
- Remove and reinstall electrical components with proper documentation
- Read breaker evaluations and work orders, then perform the specific service requested
- Work safely around stored energy mechanisms
- Read and follow OEM manuals and detailed adjustment procedures
- Read schematics, point to point, and one line wiring diagrams
- Test and troubleshoot electrical wiring and circuits
- Electrically operate breakers from schematics including charge, close, and trip functions
- Use test equipment appropriate to the breaker type
- Recondition and verify functionality of electrical parts such as aux switches, motors, relays, coils
- Support onsite and emergency jobs when needed after training
- Maintain good housekeeping and a safe, organized work area
- Perform other duties as assigned as work priorities change
What we are looking for
- Strong ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems and complete repairs safely
- Comfort using measuring tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, tape measures
- Willingness to read, study, and apply OEM manuals and technical literature
- Mechanically inclined and able to provide your own tools
- Detail oriented, organized, team focused, and dependable with a solid attitude
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask, manage time well, and work at a fast pace
- Ability to travel to some job sites after training as needed
- Comfortable handling confidential information
Technical skills
- Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
- Ability to organize and write procedures in a logical, methodical way
Education and experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
Physical requirements
- Frequent walking and continuous standing with repetitive hand motion
- Occasional overhead work, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
- Lifting includes occasional up to 75 pounds, frequent up to 50 pounds, continuous up to 25 pounds
