Credit & Collections Manager

Groundworks® seeks a Credit and Collections Manager to oversee the organization’s credit and collections processes, ensuring timely collection of outstanding receivables, minimizing credit risk, and maintaining positive customer relationships. This role involves developing and implementing credit policies, assessing customer creditworthiness, and leading a team to achieve financial objectives while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.

The Credit and Collections Manager reports directly to the Corporate Controller.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain credit policies and procedures to optimize cash flow and minimize bad debt losses.
• Evaluate customer credit applications, assess credit risk, and establish appropriate credit limits based on financial analysis and industry standards.
• Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and prioritize collection efforts to reduce overdue balances.
• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of credit and collections professionals, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Negotiate payment plans with delinquent accounts and coordinate with legal teams when necessary to resolve disputes or initiate recovery actions.
• Collaborate with sales, customer service, and finance teams to resolve billing issues and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Prepare and present reports on credit and collections performance, including DSO (Days Sales Outstanding), bad debt metrics, and cash flow projections.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
• Leverage technology and systems (e.g., ERP, CRM) to streamline credit and collections processes and improve efficiency.
• Stay informed on industry trends, economic conditions, and best practices to enhance credit risk management strategies.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
• 5 years of experience in credit and collections, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of credit risk assessment, financial analysis, and collections best practices.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Workday, Microsoft Business Central) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to lead and motivate a team to achieve departmental goals.
• Familiarity with relevant regulations (e.g., FDCPA, FCRA) and compliance requirements.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and make data-driven decisions.
• Professional certification (e.g., CCE, NACM) is a plus.
