Role Overview
The Senior Sales Associate supports the daily operations of the museum shop and reports directly to the Manager of Museum Shop. This role is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, offering thoughtful product recommendations, and sharing informed knowledge about the shop's merchandise and the sculpture park. The Key Holder helps ensure the store remains clean, organized, and visually appealing, while assisting with merchandising and display efforts that reflect the museum's values and diverse audience.
With a warm, approachable, and service-oriented presence, the Senior Sales Associate/Key Holder enhances the overall visitor experience and contributes to an inclusive and welcoming environment for all guests and colleagues. In the absence of shop management, the Senior Sales Associate/Key Holder serves as the interim supervisor, with responsibility for store access and security, including access to the safe and keys.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate cash handling and efficient register transactions in accordance with established procedures, contributing to a trustworthy and transparent retail environment.
- Actively engage with guests throughout the shop to provide product information, assist with purchases, answer questions, and support a welcoming and inclusive shopping experience for all.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels, identify low-stock items, and restock merchandise from storage or the warehouse in a timely and organized manner.
- Support the intake of new merchandise, including retrieving deliveries, inspecting merchandise deliveries for accuracy and manage, applying price tags, and assisting with thoughtful and inclusive merchandising displays.
- Serve as an ambassador for Grounds for Sculpture, fostering a culture of inclusion, respect, and belonging for all guests, members, donors, volunteers, and colleagues.
- Respond to customer inquiries and process phone orders with professionalism, empathy, and a customer-first mindset.
- Performing opening and/or closing duties and assume interim supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the shop manager.
- Access and manage the safe when serving as acting supervisor.
- Assist colleagues with register close-out procedures, including verifying daily totals and ensuring accuracy in the absence of a manager.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service that respects the diverse needs and backgrounds of all visitors.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts, in support of a collaborative team environment.
- Serve as a positive role model and mentor for new hires and team members, fostering a supportive and respectful workplace culture.
- Professional, approachable, and welcoming demeanor with strong interpersonal communication skills
- Spanish fluency or multilingual abilities encouraged to better serve a diverse visitor base.
- Strong knowledge of Ground's for Sculpture's exhibitions, grounds, merchandise, sculpture par, and current programming.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in cash handling and related retail or customer-facing roles preferred.
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team, including cross-departmental collaboration.
- Committed to upholding an inclusive, respectful, and equitable work environment by embracing and valuing individual differences and perspectives.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
