JOB DESCRIPTION
As Grounded’s cabinet builder, you will assemble and fabricate custom modules for Grounded’s interior build outs of electric vehicles. This includes cabinets, drawers, kitchens, closets, bed frames, medical beds, mobile office units and more. You have a keen eye for detail and understand how to create precision assemblies that look amazing. You’re not afraid to think outside the box and are constantly looking for ways to improve and do things differently.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Custom Module Fabrication - lead fabrication of new designs and assemblies for Grounded’s custom electric vehicle portfolio.
- Shop Build-Out - design and organize the shop floor space needed to fabricate custom cabinetry and modules.
- Design Feedback - provide design feedback and advice for the engineering team and designers. Provide solutions and implement new ideas on the floor to constantly improve Grounded’s modular components.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 2 years experience in millwork, custom fabrication or metalworking.
- Strong understanding of composite, metal and/or wood types, materials, and construction techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- An eye for detail and high standards is a must.
- Hardworking and a willingness to learn is a must.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience building custom RV's and/or commercial mobile vehicles.
- Experience working with a wide range of materials, including composites and metal.
- Experience with running plumbing and appliances into tight spaces.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed
- Ability to perform hands-on work in all environments (heat, cold, rain), in tight quarters or at heights
- Ability to focus while working in hazardous conditions and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Ability to lift up to 45lbs unassisted
COMPENSATION/BENEFITS
This is a contract to hire role. The initial contract will be for 2 months, with the opportunity to come on full time for someone who raises the bar. This role will be compensated with a hourly pay plus overtime (and opportunities for overtime every week).
ADDITIONAL NOTES
This role is an in-person role in Detroit. We are located in Corktown, right next to the Michigan train station on the Ford-backed Michigan Central campus at 2059 Saint Anne.
