What are the responsibilities and job description for the HVACR Instructor position at Ground Up Trade and Talent Solutions (GUTTS)?
Do you have spare time and want to make extra money? Join Ground Up Trade and Talent Solutions (GUTTS) accredited HVAC Program as an Instructor. This is a part-time role at 80 hours over 5 weeks. You can join the team for 3 months or 12 months out of the year; schedule is flexible. GUTTS is looking for people interested in helping to grow the HVAC industry by developing entry level technicians for jobs. Check out our website – www.gutts.tech. GUTTS is an entry level and job placement program. GUTTS is looking to employ multiple instructors.
Pay: $40 - $50 an hour based on experience level.
Instructor Duties:
- Prepare, review, and recommend updates to the program course syllabus and curriculum as needed.
- Work closely with GUTTS’ leadership to improve the program’s course curriculum and syllabus.
- Document student attendance, grades, and progress.
- Provide students with knowledge and skills development needs through instruction and labs.
- Create an effective learning environment.
- Ensure the safety of the training room and lab areas, machinery, tools, and equipment.
- Prepare students for testing to receive certifications.
- Comply with state and program policies and guidelines.
- Develop good relations with students and community partners.
- Maintain current knowledge of changes in trade industry and state requirements.
- Maintain instructor, student, and program staff confidentiality.
- Interact with students, co-workers, and business partners in a cooperative and professional manner.
Requirements:
- Reliable transportation to the job site or access to reliable public transportation.
- High school diploma or GED (but not required).
- Maintain current knowledge of changes in trade industry and state requirements.
- Teaching experience is preferred but not required.
- Solid background and knowledge of foundational principles HVAC and theories.
- Current Journeyman or Master HVAC License preferred or 6 years of field level HVAC experience.
- Communication skills, as required to interact with students.
Physical Requirements:
- Will be required to work in a lab setting.
- Prolonged periods of standing may be required.

The GUTTS Program includes Plumbing and HVAC Pre-Apprentice and soon to launch Electrical Courses that provide individuals with classroom and lab training segueing into jobs and apprenticeships. After completing the course, GUTTS provides students with Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors (PHCC) Certificate and GUTTS State of Virginia Department of Professional Occupational Regulation (DPOR) Certification of 72 Hours toward accredited pre-apprenticeship and a tool bag with all the hand tools needed start on their first day as an apprentice.
