Controller

Ground Up Construction Recruiting is partnered with a family-owned commercial general contractor in Lincoln to help them hire a Controller to lead the accounting/finance department. This is an opportunity to not only manage the day-to-day accounting operations, but to help strategically lead the company as they continue to grow.

They're a close-knit team of 25 people doing roughly $30M in revenue. They're expertise is design-bid-build with 85% being public work and 15% private. Most of their projects consist of schools, fitness/athletic complexes, offices, churches, parks, and fire stations. They've been in business for 10 years and the owner loves delivering high-quality projects that positively impact the community. Controlled, sustainable growth is important, so hiring the right person that wants to help build the company and is looking for a long-term home is key.

This is more than a month-end and financial-reporting position - you’ll be at the center of the day-to-day operation, partnering with project managers, leadership, vendors, and field teams to make sure projects and the business are financially strong. If you enjoy problem-solving, digging into the details, and seeing how the numbers connect to what’s happening in the field, you’ll thrive in this role.

Compensation/Benefits:

• $100k-$120k salary bonus

What You Bring:

• 5 years of accounting experience (preferably in construction or a family-owned business)
• Quickbooks is your second language
• You're motivated to take on challenges and bring solutions to the table, not problems
• Great at juggling a lot of responsibilities at once and being organized
• You're proactive instead of waiting to be told what to do
• You have an ownership mentality and take full responsibility of your work
