What are the responsibilities and job description for the Founding Product Engineer position at Ground Control Development?
Founding Product Engineer - Industrial Infrastructure Software
Location: San Francisco
Ground Control is building software for complex, real-world infrastructure problems - factory selection, facility planning, construction, and ongoing operations for advanced manufacturing companies.
We spent our first year embedded in paid pilot projects with aerospace, nuclear, robotics, and energy startups, proving service-market fit and deeply understanding operational pain points. We recently closed a $2M pre-seed and are now translating those workflows into a scalable, AI-enabled platform.
We're looking for a product-minded engineer to own the user experience end-to-end, from interface design to implementation, and help set the bar for industrial infrastructure software.
You
- Full-stack engineer with strong design instincts and an eye for detail.
- You care as much about how something feels as how it works.
- Experience building 0-1 B2B SaaS products, ideally with complex workflows or data-heavy interfaces.
- Comfortable owning UI/UX decisions - from information architecture to interface design and flow.
- Experience with interactive interfaces: spatial views, floorplan tools, dashboards, or data visualization.
- Collaborative with design and engineering; you have strong but practical design opinions.
- U.S.-based (work authorization required given customer profile).
- Motivated by software that connects to the physical world.
Why
- Our users are building aerospace, nuclear, robotics, and energy systems - you will work alongside teams advancing critical infrastructure.
- Facilities are often critical path to hardware innovation. We exist to remove that bottleneck.
- High ownership, meaningful equity, and ability to shape culture and product direction from the ground up.
- The industrial software category is overdue for an overhaul - you'd be building it.
