BUILDING MAINTENANCE / HVAC TECHNICIAN POSITION
The Groton-Dunstable Regional School District is in search of a reliable, skilled maintenance/ HVAC technician with an active EPA license. The ideal candidate will possess significant work experience, including technical knowledge with automated building systems and HVAC equipment. Work will be performed across all seven buildings in the district.
Summary of Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
- Perform ongoing maintenance of all district buildings, including boilers, hot water heaters, direct expansion cooling, rooftop air handling units, displacement ventilation, LED lighting, building management software, controls, and many other mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and architectural features.
- Conduct ongoing inspections of equipment and complete maintenance and/or call vendors as required.
- Ability to work independently and with others with minimal supervision and make decisions within established guidelines.
- Perform general building maintenance such as repairing broken locks, replacing light bulbs and ballasts, changing air filters, repairing wall damage, painting, and performing light carpentry.
- Inspect and troubleshoot various equipment and building systems.
- Demonstrate the ability to successfully perform troubleshooting and repairs on a variety of HVAC systems.
- Communicate status reports to the Director of Facilities regarding resolved issues, issues needing attention, and those currently in progress.
- Manage maintenance repair tickets through district‑provided cell phone.
- Seasonal duties include snow plowing and preparing entrances and sidewalks for timely school openings.
- Perform on‑call coverage on a rotating basis.
Job Qualifications:
- Must pass Massachusetts Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check.
- Must pass a fingerprinting background check.
- High school diploma.
- Preferred minimum three years of experience in commercial building maintenance.
- Demonstrated proficiency with HVAC systems and possession of an active EPA license.
- Demonstrated proficiency with technology associated with automated building systems.
- Preferred working knowledge of HVAC systems.
- Manual dexterity and coordination required to perform duties.
- Ability to work pleasantly and knowledgeably with staff and the public at all age levels.
- Ability to give and follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to climb extension ladders and genie lifts.
- Ability to lift, carry, and manage heavy boxes or equipment around 50 pounds.
- Ability to operate a snow plow.
- Experience working with tools, including hand and electrical tools.
- Bilingual preferred but not necessary.
Immediate Supervisor: Director of Buildings and Grounds
Pay ranges from $30.09-$34.42 per hour based on experience.
