We are currently seeking a computer-savvy, patient-centric, part-time Medical Biller to join our growing team and support our commitment to excellence in pediatric care.
Who You are:
You either have:
· Experience working as a biller in a pediatric clinic or a clinic
· Or completed billing certificate, computer savvy, ready to lean EPIC (EMR System) and produce detail A/R report, and motivated and willing to learn.
We consider both types of candidates for this position.
Position Summary
The Part-Time Medical Biller plays an essential role in maintaining the financial health of our practice by managing patient billing, claims processing, and payer communications. This position also includes administrative support tasks that promote teamwork and smooth daily operations across departments.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and familiar with medical billing in a pediatric or outpatient clinic setting—especially with EPIC EMR or a similar electronic system.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, submit, and follow up on insurance claims accurately and promptly
- Review and analyze accounts receivable (A/R) reports; contact payers as needed to resolve unpaid or denied claims
- Post and reconcile payments from insurance companies and patients
- Verify insurance eligibility and patient benefits prior to visits
- Manage patient statements and communicate billing information professionally and courteously
- Assist with administrative duties such as checking faxes, sending medical records, and collaborating with other departments
- Order vaccines and ensure compliance with VFC (Vaccines for Children) program requirements
- Participate in process improvement projects to increase billing efficiency and accuracy
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using EPIC EMR for billing and reporting
- Previous experience in pediatric or multi-payer medical practice
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes
- Familiarity with insurance guidelines and reimbursement procedures for HMO, PPO, Tricare, and Medi-Cal plans
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel and other office software
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma, associate’s degree or medical billing certification preferred.
- Prior experience in medical billing or revenue cycle management
- Comfortable learning new software systems and EMR platforms - EPIC
- Team-oriented and adaptable, with the ability to multitask in a small clinic environment
