Mechanical Design Engineer

What You'll Do

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for HVAC and environmental monitoring sensors, including pressure transducers, differential pressure sensors, flow sensors, and IAQ/IEQ devices.
• Create detailed CAD models, drawings, GD&T, material specifications, and tolerance analyses optimized for accuracy and manufacturability.
• Support FEA and thermal analysis to validate mechanical robustness under HVAC-relevant conditions, including airflow, vibration, humidity, and thermal drift.
• Support rapid prototyping for complex products.
• Support and lead environmental qualification and reliability testing, including pressure cycling, humidity/condensation testing, thermal shock, and leak testing.
• Optimize sensor mechanical interfaces for easy installation in air ducts, cleanrooms, mechanical rooms, and building automation systems.
• Partner with Electrical, Firmware, Test Engineering, and Manufacturing teams on sensor integration and verification.
• Support VAVE, cost reduction, and design improvements across the product lifecycle.
• Contribute to NPI and sustaining engineering activities by solving technical problems, documenting design decisions, and supporting product improvements.

What You Brin

• gBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• .3 years of mechanical design experience, preferably with sensor design, HVAC, building automation, industrial products, or environmental monitoring applications
• .Proficiency in SolidWorks, Creo, or equivalent CAD tools, including mechanical design, drawings, and GD&T
• .Experience designing housings, brackets, interfaces, or sensing structures using metals, polymers, elastomers, or environmental-grade materials
• .Working knowledge of thermal behavior, airflow dynamics, sealing, and environmental protection concepts such as IP ratings
• .Familiarity with manufacturing methods used in mechanical and sensor products, such as machined parts, injection-molded plastics, die-cast housings, or welded/brazed components, as well as prototyping techniques such as 3D printing
• .Preferred: Exposure to differential pressure sensing, piezoresistive or capacitive elements, MEMS, or sensor packaging in harsh environments
