Customer Service Associate / Cashier

Job Summary

The cashier provides the best personal first and last impression of our store for our customer through the amazing service they provide. This will be accomplished through a genuine greeting, friendly interaction, and education of our customers. The cashier will also ensure the best in accuracy with cash and electronic funds handling, while maintain inventory integrity through use of POS equipment. The cashier may also be trained and work in multiple areas of the store to ensure the customer is having the best experience possible.

Primary Responsibilities

· Genuine greeting of all customers

· Maintaining good rapport with all coworkers, working towards a common goal of excellent customer service

· Educate customers on Grocery Outlet’s unique shopping environment

· Participate in store promotions to build customer loyalty

· Highlight all customer savings, and announce via store PA exceptional savings

· Solicit from customers for charity or other fundraising events. Assist store with other community outreach programs

· Quickly process customer transactions

· Accurate use of POS equipment to properly account for all items being purchased and provide customer a sales total

· Accuracy in cash and electronic funds transfer handling

· Answer store phone, provide requested information or direct to appropriate personnel

· Maintain great instocks on the front end, eager to fill any out of stocks

· Maintain accurate pricing on all product in work area

· Maintain a clean work environment, one free of distractions from the customer experience

· Work new products to the floor in a timely manner

· Maintain a clean parking lot, free of shopping carts and debris

· Maintain clean restrooms

· Any other tasks assigned by store management upon request

Cashier Duties

· Report to work in a fit condition for scheduled shifts ontime

· Showcase the Grocery Outlet brand through proper presentation of company provided uniform, badges and following grooming guidelines

· Keep a flexible schedule, able to work in the range from 10-40 hours based upon business needs. Able to work overtime or be on-call as needed

· Learn the Grocery Outlet model, and be a champion of that model to help customers learn how to save with us

· Diffuse upsetting customer situations, and turn them into a win-win for the customer and GO

· Prioritize multiple given priorities, ensuring the best in customer experience while completing tasks

· Thrive in a team environment, working with co-workers on providing the best in customer experience

· Showing eagerness to learn more, other areas of the store to cross train to help in times of need

Physical Requirements

· Routine twisting at the waist, of wrists and neck to interact with customers and use POS equipment

· Lifting of product upwards of 50lbs below, equal to and above waist

· Ability to communicate with customers and other employees in person or via telephone device

· Ability to read, decipher and communicate often small and fine print

Reporting

· This position reports directly to the designated Front End Manager, Store Owners and indirectly to any assigned Manager On Duty.
