We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Produce Manager to oversee the daily operations of our produce department. Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the produce department team, including hiring, training, and developing staff to ensure excellent performance.
- Manage inventory control, including ordering, stocking, and rotating produce to minimize waste and ensure freshness.
- Oversee pricing strategies and merchandising to optimize sales and enhance store presentation.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and sanitation standards within the department.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate with suppliers for purchasing fresh produce and negotiating favorable terms.
- Monitor sales trends and adjust inventory levels accordingly to meet customer demand.
- Conduct regular audits of stock levels, quality, and cleanliness of the produce area.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as payroll, bookkeeping, budgeting, and recordkeeping related to the department.
- Implement marketing initiatives to promote produce specials and seasonal items.
Experience
- Proven management experience in retail grocery or similar environment, preferably in produce or perishable goods.
- Strong leadership skills with experience supervising teams in a retail setting.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage inventory, pricing, and merchandising effectively.
- Experience with POS systems, inventory management software, and retail math principles.
- Knowledge of purchasing procedures, vendor negotiations, and supplier relationships.
- Demonstrated ability in customer service, communication skills, and conflict resolution.
- Familiarity with retail sales strategies, marketing techniques, and store management practices.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customer bases.
