Audit Associate

Grobstein Teeple, LLP
Woodland, CA Full Time
POSTED ON 7/26/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 11/22/2026

About the Role

Grobstein Teeple LLP is seeking an Experienced Audit Associate to join our growing assurance practice in Woodland Hills. The ideal candidate has approximately 1 to 4 years of recent public accounting audit experience, ideally at the experienced associate or senior associate level.

This role is a strong opportunity for someone who wants more ownership, more direct client exposure, and the ability to work closely with partners and managers while avoiding the narrow role structure often found at larger firms.

The role will focus primarily on audit and assurance engagements for privately held businesses, nonprofit organizations, and other clients across a range of industries.

Responsibilities

The Audit Associate will assist with and, depending on experience, lead portions of audit and assurance engagements, including:

  • Performing audit, review, and compilation procedures under U.S. GAAP and applicable professional standards
  • Preparing and maintaining clear, organized audit workpapers
  • Testing account balances, transactions, estimates, and disclosures
  • Assisting with audit planning, risk assessment, and engagement documentation
  • Preparing or reviewing financial statements and related disclosures
  • Communicating with clients regarding open items, support requests, and audit questions
  • Identifying audit issues and bringing them to the attention of managers and partners
  • Coordinating with junior staff or interns, where applicable
  • Helping ensure engagements are completed efficiently and in accordance with firm quality standards

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have:

  • 1 to 4 years of recent public accounting audit experience, ideally at the experienced associate or senior associate level
  • Experience supporting audits, reviews, and/or compilations
  • Understanding of U.S. GAAP and basic audit methodology
  • Ability to prepare clear and organized workpapers
  • Ability to follow audit programs, document procedures performed, and identify issues requiring follow-up
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • CPA license or active progress toward CPA preferred
  • Working knowledge of AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or similar platforms, with the ability to use them responsibly to improve efficiency, drafting, research, and workflow organization

Experience with nonprofit, construction, real estate, manufacturing, professional services, investment entities, or employee benefit plan audits is a plus.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is technically solid, dependable, and ready to take on more responsibility. The right candidate does not need to know everything, but should be able to think critically, ask good questions, document work clearly, and communicate professionally with clients and engagement teams.

Why Join GT

At GT, experienced associates and seniors are given meaningful responsibility and direct access to decision-makers. You will work closely with managers and partners, gain exposure to the full engagement cycle, and have the opportunity to develop beyond narrow workpaper assignments.

This role is a good fit for someone who wants to grow technically, communicate directly with clients, use modern tools, and be part of a practice that is actively expanding. We operate in a collaborative, family-like environment where everyone supports one another and grows together.
