- ** This position performs physical labor on heavy construction projects. May operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, small mechanical devices, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments. Perform cleanup of sites, dig trenches, heavy shoveling, climbing in and out of trenches, clean up rubble and debris. This position reports to the assigned Foreman or Superintendent. Duties within this role may be changed at any time by the Supervisor or the Vice President of Operations.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
- Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
- Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, and rakes.
- Load, unload, and identify construction materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to verbal instructions using company vehicles and or heavy equipment.
- Operate jackhammers and drills to break up concrete or pavement.
- Transport and tend various size pumps, compressors, and generators to provide power for tools, machinery, and equipment.
- Tend equipment and vehicles that pump concrete, grout, cement, sand and aggregate.
- Position requires employee to frequently, stand, walk, twist, bend, handle objects, reach outward, reach above head and shoulders, climb, squat, kneel, bend, and frequently lift -carry-push-pull-move-drag on flat ground or steep slopes up to 100 lbs.
- Must pass pre-employment drug test prior to working.
- Project a positive and cooperative attitude by maintaining courteous and professional conduct with Supervisors, co-workers, customers, and the general public.
- Valid Driver's License Preferred.
- Must be able to provide proper documentation that you have the legal right to work in the United States.
- This work is outdoors and range from frigid to hot temps, high winds, flying dust, slipping hazards, rain, snow, sleet, frequently exposed to loud noise from heavy equipment and machinery.
