Job Duties:
Conducts therapy practices within established standards of care and hospital policies, including quality improvement, safety, and infection control.
Follows individualized treatment plans and collaborates with physical therapists to optimize patient care.
Provides direct patient care, evaluates functional needs, and consults with specialists as necessary.
Manages documentation of patient progress and regularly updates treatment plans.
Manages schedules to meet departmental productivity goals and collaborates with colleagues for inpatient coverage.
Communicates effectively with healthcare professionals and directs support staff to achieve patient goals.
Performs additional duties as designated by the Department Director or Lead Physical Therapist.
Job Requirements
Education: Graduate from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant Program
Licenses/Certifications: Current license to practice in Idaho; Current BLS certification
Skills: Effective communication with a diverse range of individuals
Preferred: One year of experience, driver's license, dependable transportation, and auto insurance
Functional Demands
Population Served: Cares for patients of all ages (pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric) and diverse backgrounds including various genders, races, ethnicities, sociopolitical and socioeconomic statuses, marital and sexual preferences, developmental and physical abilities, religions, and nationalities.
Physical Demands:
Lifting: Occasionally up to 75 lbs. from floor, chair, or bed to stand, 35 lbs. overhead; frequently up to 20 lbs.
Transfers: Assist up to 24 times per day.
Push/Pull: Moderate force for wheelchairs and equipment.
Carrying: Up to 20 lbs. for 100 yards.
Fine Motor Skills: Required for treatments and taping.
Standing/Walking: Up to 3 hours at a time, 8 hours per day.
Sitting: Up to 1 hour at a time, 5 hours per day.
Kneeling: Up to 15 minutes at a time, 1 hour per day.
Stooping: Up to 15 minutes at a time, 3 hours per day.
Driving: Up to 90 minutes at a time, 4 hours per day.
Climbing: Up to 5 minutes at a time, 30 minutes per day.
Other: Constant talking, hearing, seeing.
Environmental Conditions:
Location: Therapy Clinic/Hospital
Exposure Risks: Bio-hazardous items, blood/body fluids, infectious diseases, outdoor environments, cleaning and pool chemicals, therapy pool environment.
