Truck Driver
JOB DIMENSIONS:
Job Summary:
Under general supervision, loads, delivers, picks up, and transports company products and materials to company facilities and vendor locations; and performs related duties, as assigned.
Reports to:
Core Room & Molding Manager
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Checks delivery schedule, organizes, and loads truck for delivery;
- Inspects vehicles to ensure safe operating conditions;
- Drives and operates 7-ton, diesel engine, stick shift truck;
- Drives to named location;
- Unloads product at destination;
- Regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in conformance with company policies is essential to the successful performance of this position; and
- Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations
QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES:
Any combination equivalent of, but not limited to, the following:
Experience/Training/Education:
Considerable experience operating trucks, trailers, and related equipment such as forklifts.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Able to communicate with vendors;
- Able to organize tonnage on trailer for legal load;
- Basic knowledge of chaining construction equipment for sale loads;
- Able to work cooperatively with co-workers;
- Able to read and interpret instructions and understand directions;
- Considerable knowledge of proper operation of trucks and trailers;
- Able to operate related equipment such as a forklift;
- Able to operate flat bed 7-ton, diesel engine, stick shift truck; and
- Considerable knowledge of safety regulations and procedures and Department of Motor Vehicle operating requirements.
- Physical Requirements:
- Able to drive long distances; able to lift, move, and carry weights of up to 25 pounds without assistance;
- Able to bend, reach, stoop, lift, and move materials and equipment; and
- Ability to perform essential functions of the job, as defined;
- Reasonable accommodations provided upon request.
Special Requirements:
Possession of a valid Class C California driver license and an acceptable driving record; and
Forklift experience a plus, though not required.
