Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and process purchase orders for goods and materials from domestic suppliers.
- Work closely with production planners to align purchases with manufacturing forecasts and capacity.
- Communicate with domestic suppliers to confirm order details, lead times, delivery dates, and resolve discrepancies.
- Track and expedite open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery; manage backorders and shortages efficiently.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery conditions with suppliers to secure optimal pricing.
- Maintain purchasing records in ERP/MRP systems and ensure data accuracy for reporting and analysis.
- Collaborate with warehouse, logistics, receiving, and accounting teams to resolve delivery or invoicing issues.
- Assist in identifying new vendors and alternative sources of supply as needed.
- Facilitate cross-department collaboration to ensure seamless procurement processes and alignment with organizational goals.
- Regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in conformance with company policies is essential to the successful performance of this position; and
- Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations.
- Participate in the improvement of department processes and procedures.
- Strong understanding of materials planning, BOMs, and production processes.
- Working knowledge of quality control, vendor compliance, CofC, MTR’s, MRR’s and purchasing best practices.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) and experience with ERP or procurement software.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of logistics or inventory management.
- Associate’s degree in related field or equivalent training and/or experience. Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a purchasing or procurement role, highly preferred
- Prior experience purchasing metals, plastics, electronic components, or industrial parts is preferred.
- Ability to read and understand CAD drawings.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Problem-solving skills and resourcefulness.
- Effective time management to meet deadlines and handle urgent requests.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across departments.
- Ability to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, photocopiers, and other applicable devices.
