Summary

In this leadership role reporting to the President, you will lead precision grinding, lapping and honing operations ensuring a safe working environment while meeting customer, quality, productivity, regulatory, inventory control and reporting targets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Work safely and promote safety throughout the company. Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment. Immediately stop production for safety or quality issues.

· Working with department leads and the sales team, schedule and drive daily production operations. Responsible for time and attendance. Identify and maintain proper staffing levels.

· Manage shift transitions by driving communication between previous and oncoming department leads each day discussing any open issues and priorities.

· Ensure that operators have all necessary instructions, training, consumables, tools and packaging to do their job properly and that they understand that they are responsible for the quality of their production. Ensure employees have been cross trained so that all functions within departments have appropriate back-up employees.

· Communicate ideas for continuous improvement and business process improvement activities to leadership. Assist with problem resolution and sustaining engineering.

· Be a champion for 5S, visual management, continuous improvement and other Lean programs for the company.

· Complete performance evaluations of all Leads and regular shift employees in a timely manner. Develop department personnel and communicate to management additional training needs. Mentor and develop Leads. Recognize and reward solid performance.

· Enforce adherence to company policies and procedures through leadership and, if necessary, the progressive discipline system.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

· Track record of successfully leading the departments of a multi-shift production operation.

· Material removal (grinding or machine shop) experience is a plus.

· Experience with precision grinding, lapping and/or honing is a strong plus.

· Excellent communication skills. Communicates effectively with customers, vendors and teammates at all levels of the organization with good interpersonal, judgment and organizational abilities. Spanish bilingual a strong plus. Competent with Microsoft Office Software.

· Solid root cause analysis and analytical problem-solving skills with good decision-making ability. Mechanical aptitude. Can lead problem-solving efforts and the implementation of solutions.

· Strong sense of urgency and dedication to pursuing operational excellence. Must be tenacious, self-starter, show initiative, high energy level, hands-on and very detail oriented. Should be goal oriented and do things in a well-orchestrated way.

· Understanding of and belief in Lean manufacturing techniques such as Kaizen, 5S and visual management.

· Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 13485 and/or AS9100 quality systems.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
